... I feel so frustrated.
Just before I went on holiday I took my Loopylou Secret Garden in to be framed at Easy Frames in Derby. Today I went to collect it only to find the place had closed down. There was a phone number for people to contact them but unfortunately this seems to be out of use. I contacted Derby Trading Standards who told me I would need to contact the Council (as this was in the Eagle Centre Market which is run by the council) and get an address. Unfortunately the market is run under a blanket licence so they do not hold addresses for market stall holders. They did have a website address but I have just tried that and it is just saying the site is for sale and you can place a bid but not contact the seller.
I left a £20.00 desposit but thats not bothering me its just all that work which appears to be lost and I cannot see how I can contact these people to recover my work. I feel so upset by this and I am at a complete loss as to what else I can do. Sorry for the moan but at least I know the people on here will understand about the amount of work thats put into a project.
If anyone has any idea how I can proceed I would be grateful.

OH NO Helen, All that work, Surely they should of rang you and left a message or something.To let you know that they were shutting. I have no advice I'm afraid but If I hear anything about them I will let you know. Not that I am likely too, but all I can offer is sympathies I'm afraid.((Hugs))

It is horrible how some people can be so irresponsible!
I would stay at it. You may yet find a way to contact them.
If you have a "what's going on" sort of section of your local newspaper perhaps you could get something published about it.

could you put a letter through the door of the shop and hope they collect the mail? Does your local paper have a letters section? Some thing in there might bring results?

Contact Radio Derby and ask them to put out a request for any information or help, also the local newspaper might be able to help. I wonder how many others have left treasured pieces with them.

OMG Helen, no wonder you're upset. This is absolutely awful. I wish I had some further suggestions on what you could do. I would definitely try what some of the others have suggested and don't give up yet.

Oh Helen, that is terrible, I would be angry and upset too, why the heck did they not contact you to collect your work if they could not fulfill their committment to you....oooo makes me sooo mad!!
That just stinks! I would contact the local papers, tv stations, radio. Also LNS and any art galleries and see if by chance they have any information on the owners. Also other vendors in the same building may know if you ask. Keep us posted.

Oh Helen, how awful! Have you tried asking the other traders in the market, maybe the ones with stalls either side or opposite would know something.
Do they have any other branches? Perhaps in Nottingham?
That is awful, any more news? Can you put a free ad in the local paper on anything? to try and get your piece back
Oh Helen, I can understand your frustration so well. This is not the right way to treat customers. But perhaps they are just too busy with problems to sort it out right now and will get back to you later. I just hope that you get your stitched piece back.
